Sometime around midnight on Thursday, season 4 of House of Cards found its way onto Netflix. Rejoicing fans couldn’t wait to see what kind of shenanigans Francis Underwood and company get into next. Neve Campbell is back on television, and that’s super awesome—but the show’s return poses a grave threat to society at large.
Because of the way Netflix premieres their programs all at once instead of on a week-to-week basis (like Friends—remember?), people are canceling their weekend plans to marathon HoC. This is something the streaming content provider needs to be more aware of if they want the American economy to thrive. To remain the world’s superpower, our citizens need to be spending tons cash on weekends. Unfortunately, these binge-watchers could care less about their country’s financial stability.
A woman who would’ve spent at least $2,000 this weekend, easy.
Not only will she not be spending money this weekend, but she made sure her boyfriend won’t either.This dude was supposed to fly to Las Vegas today.This guy was supposed to be at his best friend’s bachelor party—also in Las Vegas. This woman was going to buy a new sofa on Sunday. Oh well.Dude is a billionaire. Just imagine the dough he could’ve dropped.A woman whose trust fund just kicked in.These are just a few examples of an epidemic spreading rapidly through society. Watching House of Cards in the span of a week or longer may be difficult, but it will be better for our economy in the long run.
