From Snapchat to Facebook to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the “Damn, Daniel” meme shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Unfortunately, this is affecting teens the world over—they just can’t seem to cope with the catchphrase’s viral success.

Here, we take a look at their stories:

A 17-year-old, clutching coffee, frightened that she will hear “Daaamn, Daniel” at any moment.

A 16-year-old depressed that no one has said “Damn, Benjamin” to him yet.

A 15-year-old peeking at Daniel’s white Vans through his blinds and wondering why life is so meaningless.

Before this 18-year-old turned to booze and pills, she thought the “Damn, Daniel” meme wouldn’t drive her to self-destruction.

A mom and dad fighting over who is to blame for their son not being as viral as Daniel, plus a 14-year-old who desperately wishes his parents had never heard of “Damn, Daniel.”

A man 40 years older than Daniel distressed that no one was impressed with his penny loafers in high school.
