Suge Knight shooting sparks rap conspiracy renaissance

Police have confirmed that rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight was shot at a West Hollywood nightclub early Sunday morning along with two other partygoers. Now Twitter is trying to piece the puzzle together—sort of—having little more to go on than chaotic raw footage:

Popularly believed to have played a nefarious part in the bicoastal beef that left hip-hop legends Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls dead in a pair of drive-by shootings nearly 20 years ago, Knight has appeared at the center of countless conspiracy theories spun by fans and peers alike. Many were reignited by this latest eruption of violence, which occurred at a pre-Video Music Awards party hosted by Chris Brown. (Yes, MTV’s VMAs are on tonight.)

Incredibly, this isn’t even the first time Knight’s been shot at a pre-VMAs party: He also sued Kanye West after taking a bullet in the leg at the rapper’s 2005 soirée in Miami. There’s been disagreement, though, as to whether he or Brown was the target this time.

Brown, for his part, did some solid whining about his party being upstaged. Then, because that settled everything, he linked to video of a kid dancing to his latest track, “New Flame.”

The ridicule poured in after that.

As the shooting took place amid the aftershocks of Michael Brown’s unexplained death, racists emerged from their bunkers to ask why the black community is not as outraged by a civilian wounding a violent offender as they are by a police officer killing an unarmed teen.

Looks like it might be (another) rough week ahead.
