We already get much of our news online, whether it’s a celebrity death on Twitter or an emerging new Facebook trend. But social networks can also bring the worst out in people, and when Cracked turned those social networks into employees of a cable news show, it went about as well as you’d expect.
They ignore bigger stories for something that will get views, argue about how new the story is, shoot down BuzzFeed’s attempt to do some serious journalism, and generally display the obnoxiousness of their users. And Facebook, always trying to steer the conversation, is dying right before our eyes.
The entire cast of social networks manages to avoid mentioning politics, which almost certainly would have caused an all-out brawl.
But is this really any worse than some of what's already on cable TV?
