Bernie Sanders supporters are pulling for their candidate via Twitter with the hashtag #ToneDownForWhat after Hillary Clinton’s camp announced it would not participate in a New York debate with the senator unless he toned down his rhetoric.

Sanders's campaign challenged Clinton to a debate April 19 just before the New York primary with hopes to capture undecided voters. Although Clinton’s campaign didn’t outright reject the idea of participating, it did say it wouldn’t be dictated by requests of a candidate that has gone back on his word not to run negative ads. A Sanders spokeperson told Politico that his candidate has “never run a negative ad in his life” and that some are expecting a “coronation instead of a campaign” this election season.

Sanders supporters started the hashtag #ToneDownForWhat to express disapproval for Clinton.

Clinton is currently in the lead for the Democratic nomination with 1,712 delegates to his 1,004 even after his sweeping victories over the weekend in Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii. The next Democratic primary will take place April 5 for Wisconsin.
