The cops arrived as Chancellor and four other men were leaving Redmond Athletics Club, and determined the whole thing was a "misunderstanding." The Redmond PD told the Seattle Times that the NFL star was just there to tour the facility, and described him as "really easy to talk to."
No police report was filed, because "attempted checking out a gym while black" is not a crime. The incident left a bad taste in Chancellor's mouth, though, and he spoke out about it on Twitter.
Fortunately, there's a punchline to this tale of apparent racial discrimination. Some wannabe comedian on Twitter asked Chancellor, who missed two games last season while holding out for a better contract, why he doesn't have his own gym. Well, funny he should mention that. The gym that Chancellor wanted to visit had lost its lease and was going out of business. He was checking it out as an investment. Crying laughing emoji forever.Sounds like the gym can kiss any kind of deal goodbye after last night, though. If Redmond doesn't want Chancellor, then Redmond doesn't need his money, either.Everyone loses when something like this happens, but Chancellor handled the situation like the pro he is.
